L'EXPÉDITION BLEUE
An expedition around the world for the protection of our oceans
Facing the challenge of ocean pollution from plastics, the crew of L'Expédition Bleue embarked on a 2-year world tour by sailboat in December 2022, with the mission of protecting our oceans. They set sail aboard a 14-meter sailboat purchased and renovated for this occasion. Driven by the desire to contribute to a better understanding of marine pollution and the promotion of more eco-responsible behaviors, the crew has undertaken various scientific, educational, and ecological missions.

THE MAKING OF THE EXPEDITION
The expedition's sailboat is a used Sun Kiss 45, built by the manufacturer Jeanneau in 1985. Although this series of sailboats benefits from a wealth of experience, a strong community of enthusiasts, and an excellent reputation, our sailboat required numerous works, especially on its structure.
However, what could have been seen as a constraint turned out to be the perfect opportunity to create a tailor-made sailboat for our world tour and to learn all the technical skills that can be essential in case of mishaps at sea.
Onward to over 3 years of renovation!
